BuCor Chief is Added to the List of Percy Lapid’s Case ‘Person of Interest

Bureau of Correction (BuCor) chief Director General Gerald Bantag who was added to the list of ‘person of interest’ in Percy Lapid’s murder case.

One of the people sought in connection with the murder of seasoned broadcaster Percival Mabasa is the suspended Bantag. Rodolfo Azurin, Jr., the head of the Philippine National Police (PNP), stated this during a press conference he held at Camp Crame on Monday, October 24.

He claimed that Bantag is one among the 160 individuals included in the ‘persons of interest”. Those 160 individuals are Mabasa is supposedly targeting in his radio show, “Percy Lapid Fire,” along with several military and police officers, according to the initial investigation.

” Yung nabanggit ko na out of the 160 na mga personalities doon na mga nakasama doon sa issues doon sa programa ni Sir Percy Lapid, ay lahat po ‘yun persons of interest,” said Azurin and added that Bantag is among them. .

Bantag was recently placed on administrative leave when Crisanto Villamor, Jr., after one of the alleged “middlemen” in the murder of Mabasa, passed away on October 18. Joel Escorial, a self-described gunman, allegedly pointed the finger at Villamor for giving the order to kill Mabasa.

Escorial was introduced to the public after turning himself into the police, and four hours later it was announced that Villamor had passed away. Villamor reportedly “lost consciousness” when detained at the National Bilibid Prison, according to sources (NBP).
