Brother of Percy Lapid is Convinced by the Testimony of Gunman
The brother of slain radio broadcaster Percy Lapid or Percival Mabasa is convinced by the testimony of the gunman.
The brother of slain radio broadcaster on Wednesday said he was “convinced” to the testimony of the arrested suspect, Joel Escorial. Escorial revealed on October 18 that the mastermind behind Lapid’s death is presently being held captive at Bilibid.
They claim that P550,000 was paid to them and his other five accomplices in exchange for their work. Roy Mabasa, Lapid’s brother, claims that despite being persuaded by Escorial’s assertions, Lapid does not think that the mastermind is inside Bilibid.
Mabasa claims that the one who allegedly ordered them may merely be a “middle guy” inside Bilibid. He further emphasized that it might merely be doing as instructed by the real mastermind outside the prison.
“Satisfied tayo so far, in as far as doon sa mga inihain niyang information sa atin,” Mabasa said in an interview.
Mabasa did not reveal whether they have a suspected person who may be the mastermind behind what happened to his brother. In another statement, it is also said that he does not feel angry with Escorial.
“Iba ‘yung nararamdaman ko. Parang hindi ako masyadong excited. Parang walang galit sa dibdib ko rito sa nakita kong suspek. For what reason I do not know. Baka nga mali,” he said.
