Freak accident!

During my early morning ride in the farm yesterday, I was thrown off my bike when the front tire hit a protruding rock in the downhill trail.

I fell and landed on my left shoulder.

When I sat up to dust myself, I noticed that my left shoulder was dislocated.

Before I could feel the pain, I pushed my dislocated shoulder to its place and I heard a crackling sound.

That was when I asked the boys in the farm to bring me to the nearby Kidapawan Medical Specialist Hospital where X-Rays showed fractures in my left arm and cuff.

A confirmatory examination at Davao Doctor’s Hospital showed that I have to undergo a procedure to correct the fractures.

Aside from that injury, I only suffered slight wounds in the right knee and elbow.

My vital signs are all okey with my BP hovering between 110-70 to 130-80, ECG is normal and body temperature below 36°.

I thank my daughter, Dr. Ma. Krista Piñol-Solis for her love and attention, Dr. Edwin Mudanza of Kidapawan Medical Specialist, Dr. Noel Rex Peñaranda, Dr. Kristoffer Roa, Dr.Bernard Chiew and the collaborating physicians for their kindness.

Personally, I would to thank my farmer-friend, Ping Lacson, for his concern by offering to have me brought to Manila to undergo a more advanced procedure, Laser Surgery.

My deep appreciation. too for the love and attention of all my staff and workers in the farm and SAAV Inc.

It was really a freak accident because I had gone through that trail in my farm hundreds of times before and skillfully avoided that rock.

But yesterday, I lost my focus momentarily, looked up and before I knew it, I was already on the ground.

Looking at this accident philosophically, it teaches us a lesson that dangers and risks are always around us and we must never lose focus.

Spiritually, I see this as God’s message for me to go a bit slow on the things that I do.

Physically, I believe this accident showed that as we age, we are no longer as agile as when we were younger and our reflexes are slower.

Thank you everyone for your prayers and don’t worry, I will keep you updated as I could still work with my right hand.
