JP Soriano Complains about Police who Visit His House

JP Soriano Air Dismay to the Suprise Visit of Police to His House

GMA journalist JP Soriano complained about the surprise visit of the police to his house even though he did not give any address.

After having non-uniformed police officers visit him at home, Soriano was unable to conceal his worry. Soriano tweeted about his encounter with self-identified policemen who purportedly wanted to know if he had ever received life threats.

“Isang nagpakilalang Pulis ang nagpunta sa aking private residence ngayon, nagpakita ng I.D. pero hindi naka uniform, Hinanap ako at maayos namang nagpakilala at sinabing inutusan daw sila ng #PNP para “kamustahin” ang mga journalists at kung may “threat” ba sa amin?” said Soriano.

JP Soriano Police Visit

According to reports, the #PNP gave them the go-ahead to “examine” the position of journalists in light of what happened to Percy Lapid. He asserted that neither he nor his family were in danger.

Soriano made sure to emphasize that he politely refused the police’s request to snap a photo as proof of the incident. Soriano claims that other journalists have also received visits from the authorities.

How the PNP obtained his address was questioned by the journalist. He emphasized that the Philippine National Police should coordinate or check them at their workplace if they truly intended to check, as the unexpected visit by the cop is a blatant breach of the Privacy Act.

BGen Jonnel Estomo, the head of the NCRPO, apologized in a statement for Soriano’s ordeal. He pledged to look into the police who spoke with Sorinao. However, Soriano made it clear that he did not wish to blame the police officer that came to visit him because it’s possible that he was merely carrying out his orders.

“Please kindly relay to the General na hindi ang police officer na nag punta sa bahay namin ang concern ko, he was just following orders I’m sure kaya please do not suspend/reprimand him. Ang issue ko hr is paano at saan nila nakuha ang home address namin?” he says.
