Arnell Ignacio to Families of OFWs Abroad: “Hindi sila bangko”

Arnell Ignacio Has this Message for Families of OFWs Working Abroad

Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) administrator Arnell Ignacio has this message to the families of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).

Ignacio provided advice for family members of Filipinos working overseas in an interview with him for SMNI. OFWs shouldn’t be regarded as “banks,” said Ignacio. Ignacio asserts that individuals who support OFWs ought to consider the challenges of working abroad.

1.77 million Filipinos are employed abroad, according to data. The higher pay abroad is frequently what drives OFWs to work away from their families.

To help OFWs access social services, the OWWA and Muntinlupa City’s municipal government have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to establish a “OFW Help Desk.” Ignacio and Muntinlupa City Mayor Rozzano Rufino “Ruffy” Biazon were the driving forces behind the MoA signing.

One of the main initiatives of OWWA to address the needs of Filipino migrant workers and their families was the establishment of the OFW Help Desk. Ignacio claimed that the frontline in advancing the rights and well-being of OFWs would be the support desk.
