Recent sources state that Jewel was detained in Laoag, Ilocos Norte due to the case he is currently involved in involving the violation of Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code, also known as the estafa. The senator’s name was consistently mentioned alongside the ex-husband in the stories that were published.

Senator Pimentel urged all members of the media to refrain from using his name in any Jewel-related news reports as a result. The court and even the church, according to Pimentel, dissolved and deemed their marriage null and void. That implies that Lobaton is no longer permitted to use the last name Pimentel, he explained.

“Calling on all media practiotioners to desist from mentioning me or the Pimentel name in connection w/ news about the arrest of Jewel Lobaton,” Pimentel said in his tweet.

“The marriage has long been dissolved/declared null & void by the court & by the church,” he clarified.
