Ice Seguerra Recalls Moment When He Was “Walang-wala”

Ice Seguerra went through a tough time in his career

Singer Ice Seguerra recalled the moment when he was “walang-wala” after his abundant child star career in showbiz.

Ice, formerly known Aiza Seguerra, was one of the popular child stars in the 1990s. His success after winning Little Miss Philippines, a popular kiddie pageant in the longest-running noontime show Eat Bulaga, was indeed tremendous.

From that, he was able to do a lot of movies with prominent stars in the entertainment industry. However, just like many child stars, Ice also went through the “awkward stage” in showbiz. This was the time when he became a teenager.

“Walang-wala ako noong early teens ko,” Ice Seguerra said, based on the article in Manila Bulletin. The singer said that he is thankful that veteran comedian-host Vic Sotto was there to support him. He was able to support himself financially through Okay Ka Fairy Ko and Eat Bulaga.

Aside from these two shows, the rounds of provincial shows also helped him a lot. “Yun naging lifeblood ko,” the singer said. “I used to do two movies at the same time. Then, biglang nawala,” he shared.

Ice joined a band that played at a club in Cubao. Initially, there were no customers watching them. At that time, their band was assigned to perform on Tuesdays, which is called a dead day.

Eventually, Ice’s band was able to pick up and they were moved to Friday and their gig was crowded. At first, Ice said that he could not believe he could sing. When he heard the song Pagdating ng Panahon, he did not take it seriously.

Di ko ma-gets yung song agad. Malay ko ba, it would be a hit and would turn my career around, naging singer nga ako,” Ice Seguerra said. The singer is set to tell more stories about his journey in the entertainment industry and in his personal life in his Becoming Ice concert on October 15 at Solaire.
