It also gets high TV ratings every night. The acting of the cast is also praiseworthy, especially Barbie as “Klay”. The teleserye has garnered lots of praise from netizens and well-known personalities.

One of those who praised teleserye was lawyer Atty. Gideon V. Peña. According to Peña, it is time to make these kinds of themes in teleseryes, not only to entertain but to teach.

“GMA7 did a good job with Maria Clara at Ibarra. We need more shows like this that not only entertain, but also educate the people about our past,” Peña wrote in his Twitter post.

“For our past is not meant to be forgotten, but remembered,” the lawyer added.

The netizens agreed, and they said it was time for the Philippines to keep up with the hit historical dramas of Koreans, which are very popular among Pinoy viewers. The Controversial director Darryl Yap even shared his reactions with the show.

Yap had nothing but admiration for GMA’s most recent drama series, particularly Barbie, who he claims gave a flawless performance. He revealed the reason why he liked this series. “Hindi nakakabato. Hindi pilit ang lipad ng istorya. Hindi kailangan ng hype—maganda talaga,” said Director Darryl.
