Netizen Earns Criticisms From Online Community For Selling Cat & Dog Meat Online
A male netizen earned criticism from the online community for allegedly selling cat and dog meat online.
Nowadays, rabies is a zoonotic disease that causes 70,000 deaths every year worldwide with 56% of the cases occurring in Asia. Over 200 human deaths, every year including children below 15 years of age die due to rabies every year in the Philippines.
A Facebook user named Markus Adrian has shared his products on “PARES GROUP” social media. It seems that he is selling cat and dog meat to the online community. The post elicits reactions from the online community.
In the photos, it can be seen that Adrian is offering cat and dog meat to the public. He is selling those meats for P80 per kilogram. He explained that it can be also used in making “pares, mami and shawarma”.
The latter has some customers who were eating his delicacies. He even challenged his haters to hate.
Some concerned citizens reported the vendor to the authorities. Several animal rights advocates are already searching for Markus to clarify the claims. Eventually, the vendor claimed that his post was just a joke.
The Anti-Rabies Act of 2007 (RA 9482) is an Act Providing for the Control and Elimination of Human and Animal Rabies, Prescribing penalties for Violation Thereof and Appropriating Funds. It aims to end human deaths from dog-mediated rabies by 2027.
