Mariel Padilla showcased her then and now photos with Toni Gonzaga
Celebrities Mariel Padilla and Toni Gonzaga recalled their “hidwaan” in 2010 as they showed their throwback photos together.
Mariel and Toni have been friends for many years now. Their friendship bloomed when they became the pioneer hosts of the Kapamilya reality show Pinoy Big Brother with veteran host Willie Revillame.
In a recent vlog, the two ALLTV stars shared the stories behind their old photos. They talked about the special moments and memorable things that happened to them when those photos were taken, from the time when they were still single to the moment that they became wives and mothers.
However, not all the photos that they showed have complete happy memories. When a photo was shown with their unhappy facial reactions, Mariel Padilla and Toni Gonzaga recalled the conflict they had back then.
Based on the article in PEP, back in 2010, Toni admitted that she and Mariel were not okay. It is because Toni was told that Mariel was badmouthing her. “Tingnan mo naman kaming dalawa dito, o! Halata ba na may hidwaan kami dito?” Mariel laughingly said.
They both agreed that this kind of conflict is part of a friendship. “Pag hindi kayo dumaan sa ganoon, hindi kayo friends. Hindi totoo ang friendship niyo,” Toni said. At that time, Toni and Mariel shared that they were both clinging to their pride.
Back then, they won’t admit that they committed mistakes or shortcomings towards each other. However, later on, they realized that they could have done better and just admitted their mistakes.
“Pero nung mga time na iyon, alam mo yung payabangan kayo na kasalanan ng isa,” Mariel said. Fortunately, there were able to reconcile and became friends again.
Mariel Padilla said that just like marriage, friendship also becomes stronger when going through a lot of difficult times. Toni Gonzaga said that she was grateful that the said “hidwaan” happened years ago because she was able to really know who Mariel is and she was able to know herself deeper as well.
