HEART EVANGELISTA – Kapuso actress Heart Evangelista opens up about her in-vitro-fertilization (IVF) treatment.
L’Officiel Philippines‘ September 2022 cover girl is Kapuso actress and fashion icon Heart Evangelista. In a feature, the actress mentioned something about her in-vitro-fertilization (IVF) treatment which she did four years after she had her miscarriage.
She is married to Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero and during her first pregnancy, they are supposed to have twins. Unfortunately, they lost both. And four years after that incident, she decided to do IVF. It was a two-week difficult process.
She was injected with fertility hormones and she has three injections in a day that lasted for two weeks. And after the process, they were able to successfully “gather the perfect boy and the perfect girl”.
And just recently, being featured in the September issue of L’Officiel Philippines, she opened up about IVF and her husband’s reaction to it.
Despite the success, she experienced an existential crisis. The pressure of having a child seeped into her.
“Am I ready for a child?” she asked herself.
“I actually have a baby boy and a baby girl waiting for me, but I’m really at this stage in my life where (I ask myself): ‘Do I want a child because I want a child?’ or ‘Do I want a child because the environment or culture dictates that I should have a child?’” she added.
With IVF, she had an assurance. She can just signal anytime she wants and anytime she is ready. There would be no fuss because the embryo is there and it is available in the Philippines and not just abroad.
She thanked her husband for supporting her. They might be different in a lot of ways and he may be traditional while she’s a bit modern but he remained supportive of her.
The actress said about her husband, “But what I like about him is he tries. He tries to be as supportive as he can be.”
