PAGASA Says ‘Nanmandol’ Intensifies Into Severe Tropical Storm

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that the ‘Nanmandol’ intensifies into a severe tropical storm outside the country’s vicinity.

On Thursday (September 15, 2022), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) released the latest weather update in the country. Habagat and the tropical storm will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that Severe Tropical Storm Nanmadol has been last spotted 1,850 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon has maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 115 kph.

Nanmandol enhances that southwest monsoon, which will trigger rainfall in parts of Southern Luzon, Western Visayas and western section of Mindanao. The weather disturbance may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility tonight or Friday morning (September 16).

“This tropical storm is forecast to remain far from the Philippine landmass and not directly affect the weather condition in the country,” PAGASA said.

Habagat will bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Aklan, Zambales, Bataan, Antique, Aklan, Antique, Negros Occidental, Palawan including Kalayaan Islands, Occidental Mindoro, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.

The southwest monsoon/localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over rest of the Visayas as well as Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

Possible flash floods or landslides are expected due to moderate to at times heavy rains and during severe thunderstorms.
