Mary Jane Veloso Mother Criticized by Supporters of PNoy

Supporters of PNoy Criticized the Mother of Mary Jane Veloso Over Her Statement

The supporters of former president Noynoy Aquino (PNoy) criticized the mother of Mary Jane Veloso, a Filipina on death row in Indonesia, due to her statement.

Celia Veloso, the mother of Mary Jane Veloso, came under fire for making a statement that appeared to be a dig at prior administrations. In her message, Mrs. Veloso expressed her gratitude to the current administration for requesting for her daughter’s executive pardon.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), according to Mrs. Veloso, has just recently intervened in the situation of her daughter. Even though it was not the President who begged for Mary Jane’s mercy, she is nonetheless thankful.

Some online users who backed the late former president Noynoy Aquino disapproved of Mrs. Veloso’s statement and labeled it “ungrateful.” Celia insulted PNoy, according to a Twitter user going by the handle @SaltAndReality, and she never once expressed gratitude for saving his daughter’s life.

“Nanay, binastos mo si PNoy at ni minsan hindi ka nagpasalamat sa pagsagip sa buhay ni Mary Jane. Kinampanya mo pa si Du30 na gusto pala ipabitay si Mary Janel. Kung ako syo dapat linyo mo ” Bakit si PNOy nasagip si Mary Jane si BBM hindi?” Yan aaksyon si BBM mo. Ingrato!” said @SaltAndReality.

Abigail Valte, formerly Aquino’s spokeswoman, made a statement on Mrs. Veloso as well. Doubtful that PNoy anticipated thanks in return, but most definitely not lies, she remarked. To grant Mary Jane Veloso that reprieve, he violated protocol.

“Doubtful that PNoy expected gratitude in return, but most certainly not lies. He broke protocol to get that reprieve for Mary Jane Veloso. Ask the Indonesian government,” said Valte.

Recall that Aquino allegedly talked to the Indonesian foreign minister in 2015 to save Veloso. Malacanang provided an explanation for why the President hasn’t yet commented on the situation.

The President won’t discuss the subject until there has been progress, the Palace emphasized. Additionally, it stated that Veloso is receiving help and that the Philippine government is not interested in “transgressing the sovereignty of another state.”
