PAGASA Says Typhoon Henry Slows Down, Rainy Friday Expected Over Parts of PH

PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Friday (September 2)

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that Typhoon Henry slowed down but will bring rainy condition over some parts of the country.

On Friday (September 2, 2022), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) released the latest weather update in the country. Typhoon Henry will continue to affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that Henry has been last spotted at 395 kilometers east of Itbayat, Batanes. It has maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 215 kph.

Henry will bring moderate to heavy with at times intense rains over Batanes and Babuyan Islands. Ilocos Norte, Apayao, and Cagayan will experience light to moderate rains.

The trough of Henry and the southwest monsoon will bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, the rest of Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and Western Visayas.

“Typhoon Henry is forecast to remain almost stationary this morning before tracking slowly northwestward later in the afternoon. On the forecast track, Henry will eventually accelerate northward tomorrow and exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on tomorrow evening or Sunday morning,” PAGASA said.

The localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy weather condition with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the remaining parts of the country.

The weather agency has also warned the public for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water conditions over northern and central Luzon will be moderate to rough. Sea ventures for small seacrafts remain risky as PAGASA raises a gale warning over the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon.
