Helpless Grandma Burned by Own Family Who Were Alleged Members of Cult

A helpless grandma passed away after she was burned by her own children and grandkids in Balingasag, Misamis Oriental.

The police authorities reported that a family in Balingasag, Misamis Oriental allegedly threw the 84-year-old grandma identified as Teofila Camungay on fire. The senior citizen suffered a third-degree burn, which leads to her untimely death.

According to Maj. Teodoro de Oro, the authorities assumed that the suspects were members of the Philippine Benevolent Christian Missionary (PBCM). He also said that the family is blaming the elderly woman for their hardships and sufferings.

“Sabi ng isang suspek, matindi raw ang kanilang galit sa biktima dahil siya umano ang dahilan ng kanilang paghihirap sa buhay. Tutol din ang biktima na kilalaning lider ng grupo ang isa sa kanyang mga apo,” Oro said.

PBCM also condemned the gruesome crime and helped to make the suspects surrender. The authorities arrested 11 individuals who were involved in killing Camungay. The suspects will face charges of Parricide.

One of the suspects explained that he was just obeying the command. Other family members refused to give a statement.
