Pokwang Gets Emotional After Family, Closest Friends Birthday Surprise
POKWANG – Kapuso actress-comedienne Pokwang turned emotional when she was surprised by her family and closest friends on her birthday recently.
Pokwang, whose real name is Marietta Subong, is a Filipino comedian, TV personality, singer, and endorser. She hosted a number of programs, including Wowowee, Happy Yipee Yehey, and Pilipinas Win na Win.
She accepted projects with TV5 after the shutdown of the Kapamilya network. On June 18, she signed a contract with the GMA Artist Center. The comedian expressed her gratitude and excitement at joining their family.
Pokwang made headlines last July after she revealed that she and her longtime partner Lee O’Brian, had broken up. Lee and Pokie first met when they worked together on the 2014 TFC movie Edsa Woolworth. In January 2019, they welcomed their daughter, Malia.
The comedian turned 52 last Saturday, August 27. She could not help but turn emotional after receiving a surprise birthday dinner from her family and closest friends on Monday, August 29.

Clips from the surprise party organized by Pokwang’s managers and daughter Mae were uploaded on IG by Eric John Salut of ABS-CBN.
Celebrity friends of the Kapuso star like Kim Atienza, Ria Atayde, Jeric Gonzales, Rabiya Mateo, and John Lapus were present at the event.

In a previous article, Pokwang spoke about the car accident that she experienced with her fellow comedienne K Brosas in the US. Thankfully, they only got minor injuries.
She added that they are really grateful that their car did not flip or swerve. They have already observed the other automobile approaching them before the collision. They were able to prepare themselves for the potential impact.
“Ako kalmang-kalma pa nga ako, e. Inalalayan ko si K. Nag-brace ako. Inalalayan ko si K kasi nakita ko talaga babangga sa side niya, e,” Pokie said.
