PHILHEALTH KONSULTA PROGRAM BENEFITS – Here is a list of what is included in the new package of PhilHealth for its members.

One of the best ways to prepare against unforeseen circumstances is to get health insurance. It is something that you and your family may turn to when unexpected medical emergencies or even foreseen ones take place. However, truth be told that not every Filipino can afford getting a health insurance from private providers.

Meanwhile, there is a government health agency that Filipinos may turn to – the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation or more commonly called PhilHealth. It has a huge number of members across the nation.

Every month or every quarter, members must pay a certain amount to PhilHealth to keep their accounts active. They can obtain assistance from the agency in case of medical matters if they have an updated account.

Recently, PhilHealth announced another program that it is currently working on – the Konsulta Program. It is under the Universal Health Care Law of the government agency.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, PhilHealth is currently targeting to find at least 1,375 healthcare providers that will attend to 25% of the total population or around 27.5 million Filipinos. There are several PhilHealth Konsulta Program benefits.

According to PhilHealth, there are no additional contributions on the part of the members. The PhilHealth Konsulta Program benefits include:

Consultation
Laboratories
- CBC, urinalysis, fecalysis, sputum microscopy, pap smear, fasting blood sugar, oral glucose tolerance test, ECG, chest x-ray
Medicines

Based on the report, there is a budget intended for every member but PhilHealth will have to make sure of the variation of the members assigned to a certain healthcare provider. Currently, the health agency is in the process of getting more healthcare providers to join the program. More updates may be posted soon.
