Being a Darna director is a dream come true for Chito Roño
Darna director Chito Roño revealed that he has been a fan of the iconic superheroine since its comics days.
Following several changes in the Darna project, Direk Chito was finally named the director of the series featuring Jane de Leon. He has already proven his ability in directing through award-winning movies that he made in the past.
Now, he achieved another milestone in his career and it is becoming the Darna director. In a recent interview, based on the article in Inquirer Lifestyle, the veteran director shared that he used to read the Darna Komiks.
“Fan talaga ako ng Darna. Maliit pa lang ako nababasa ko na sa komiks. Sa pelikula pa lang nagbabasa na ako. So, parang naging part ng buhay ko,” Direk Chito shared. He also said that he and his grandmother would read the comics together because it became a movie featuring Star for all Season Vilma Santos.
Aside from Darna, Direk Chito also read other comics by Mars Ravelo. He said that when this directorial project was offered to him, he really got excited. “So, I dared myself to do it. Kumbaga, kabataan ko pa pangarap ko na gawin ang Darna,” he said.
Direk Chito also shared that he saw the hardships that Jane de Leon has to go through for this series. Another challenging thing for the actress is how to balance her two characters, Narda and Darna.
Aside from this, Jane also had to play the character of the younger version of Narda. With this, the actress really had multiple roles in the series. The Darna director said that it was indeed a challenge for the lead actress but he said that Jane did very well.
Direk Chito also commended the actress’s focus and concentration when it comes to portraying her role.
