Severe Tropical Storm Florita Latest Update

The state weather bureau PAGASA has raised signal no. 3 in various areas due to the effects of severe tropical storm Florita.

On Tuesday (August 23, 2022), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Severe tropical storm Florita will continue to affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that Florita has been last located at 120 kilometers east northeast of Casiguran, Aurora with maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 115 kph.

Florita is expected to bring heavy to intense with at times torrential rains over Cagayan, Isabela, Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Region, and Zambales.

“Lumakas na po ang bagyong Florita, from tropical storm category, ngayon po ay naging severe tropical storm category. Kasalukuyan, malaking bahagi ng ating bansa, lalo na sa Luzon at Visayas, ay nakakaranas ng maulap na kalangitan na may pag-ulan dahil sa bagyo at sa habagat,” Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said.

The weather agency has also raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 3 in the following areas:

  • Eastern portion of Isabela
  • Southern portion of Babuyan Islands

  • Ilocos Sur
  • Northern and central portions of Aurora
  • Northern and eastern portion of Nueva Vizcaya
  • Batanes;
  • Rest of Nueva Vizcaya;
  • Rest of Benguet;
  • La Union;
  • Pangasinan;
  • Eastern portion of Tarlac
  • Nueva Ecija
  • Rest of Aurora
  • Eastern portion of Pampanga
  • Eastern portion of  Bulacan
  • Eastern portion of Rizal
  • Northern portion of Quezon including Polillo Islands
  • Northern portion of Laguna
  • Camarines Norte

The southwest monsoon will bring cloudy condition with gusty winds over western Visayas, MIMAROPA and the rest of the Bicol Region. Tlocalized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers over Mindanao

Meanwhile, the coastal water conditions over Luzon, southern Luzonand Visayas will be moderate to rough. Sea venture for small sea crafts remain risky.

The weather disturbance is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Wednesday morning (August 24).
