PAGASA Says LPA & Habagat to Affect PH Weather Condition
The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that a low-pressure area and southwest monsoon will bring rainy conditions on Tuesday.
On Friday (August 19, 2022), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) released the latest weather update in the country. The low-pressure area and southwest monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.
PAGASA reported that a low-pressure area has been last spotted at 1,325 kilometers east of Central Luzon. The southwest monsoon will be affecting the western sections of northern and central Luzon.
“Most likely po itong low pressure area na ito, sa ngayon, ay walang direktang epekto sa anumang bahagi ng ating bansa, pero itong LPA na ito ay may posibilidad na mag-develop into a tropical cyclone. So umantabay tayo sa mga updates na ilalabas ng Pagasa ukol sa weather disturbance na ito,” Pagasa weather specialist Ezra Bulquerin said.
The LPA will not yet directly affect any part of the country but it has a high chance of intensifying into a tropical cyclone.
Habagat will bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Pangasinan, Zambales, and Bataan.
The Southwest Monsoon/localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over the whole Visayas, Palawan including Kalayaan Islands and Occidental Mindoro.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience similar weather conditions.
The weather agency has also warned the public of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will be slight to moderate, according to the weather bureau.
