Kapamilya actress Janella Salvador gushes about her Valentina role in Darna series.
JANELLA SALVADOR – The Darna TV series has already aired its pilot episode and playing Valentina is Janella Salvador.
Kapamilya actress Jane De Leon is the new actress to play Darna, an iconic role that’s been passed to actresses of different generations. And opposite her, in the Valentina role, is Janella Salvador. In a previous article, De Leon became emotional ahead of the launching of their series’ pilot episode because of the overwhelming love and support she received.
Meanwhile, as Valentina, Salvador said that playing this role is her tribute to late actress Cherie Gil. The late quintessential kontrabida once played the same role in 1994 and according to Salvador, she has always dreamed of working with her.
However, she passed away and she was saddened when she learned this news because she’ll never have the chance anymore. She said, “I was really sad when I learned about her passing. I will never have that chance anymore.”
And now, gushing about her role, she said that accepting this offer is the “best decision” she’s ever made. She once had second thoughts about accepting this following her long hiatus in the show business when she got pregnant.
She was hesitant because this is not the usual role given to her. She assessed the situation and the offer to her and in the end, she decided to give it a try. It turned out to be the best decision she made and she enjoyed doing Valentina and Regina, the human alter ego of Darna’s archnemesis.
Salvador expressed, “Usually ang roles na ginagawa ko, ako ang inaapi or mabait, ganyan. My first time time do something like this na I’m like super villain, so pinag-isipan ko siya mabuti. At naisip ko why not? And it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.”
Meanwhile, if there’s anything like “kaba” in her part, it would be the knowledge that she will be filling in big shoes. The previous Valentinas have all done great and what she can assure the people is to give the character her own touch and flavor.
