It is confirmed! Liza Soberano will have her first Hollywood film soon
These past days, screenshots of an Instagram Story featuring this movie with Soberano’s account tagged on it circulated on social media. With this, talks about the Filipina actress’s involvement in this film circulated online but there was no confirmation yet at that time.
Now, Soberano has confirmed through her recent Instagram post that she is indeed part of the horror-comedy movie written by Academy Award and Tony winner Diablo Cody. Currently, the production has started in New Orleans.
The movie, set in 1989, is about an unpopular high school student, played by Newton, who accidentally re-animates a handsome Victorian corpse, played by Sprouse, during a lightning storm. Then, she starts making him into the man of her dreams by using the broken tanning bed found in her garage.
In an article in Deadline, it was announced that Carla Gugino, Liza Soberano, Joe Chrest, and Henry Eikenberry. Reportedly, Chrest will portray the character of the father of Lisa Frankenstein. However, there is no confirmation yet regarding the roles of other cast members.
The film is directed by actor-filmmaker Zelda Williams under Focus Features. In the article, Soberano was introduced as a Filipino-American actress, model, and singer. This movie will mark her Hollywood film debut.
Soberano started pursuing a career in Hollywood months ago. She shared that it has been her dream to have an acting career on the international stage. Her former talent manager Ogie Diaz also shared that aside from her Hollywood dream, Soberano also dreams of launching her career in South Korea.
In Soberano’s Instagram post, she expressed how happy she is to have her Hollywood debut. “Ecstatic to be part of this film,” the actress said. In the comment section of her post, several Filipino celebrities congratulated her. Kathryn Newton also wrote this comment, “I’m ecstatic [you’re] a part of this film!!!“
