The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested a policeman during a buy-bust operation in Caloocan City.

PDEA operatives were not expecting to arrest a cop during the buy-bust operation they conducted along Zabarte Road and Camarin Road in Brgy. 172. The operatives aim to purchase half a kilogram of illegal drugs from a supplier.

During the transaction between PDEA and a middleman, some of the subjects in the buy-bust operation pointed a gun toward the operatives. During the arrest, it has been discovered that one of the suspects in a cop. Other suspects quickly run away to escape.

Buy-Bust Operation

According to PDEA NCR, they were looking into the possibility that it was a sell bust. PDEA also wonders why there are some cops involved on their subjects although there is no coordination or pre-ops order from Caloocan PNP.

The two law enforcement agencies signed a memorandum “one pre-ops” to avoid similar misencounter that happened between PDEA and PNP last year in Commonwealth, Quezon City.

PDEA NCR learned that there are coordination papers of drug operations in NCR after conducting a verification. However, there is no coordination order in Caloocan City.

Northern Police District management particularly the Caloocan chief has expressed his disappointment regarding the involvement of Police Corporal Mark Jefferson Lopez in illegal activities.

NPD conduct an investigation and learned that Lopez was involved in various illegal activities. The suspect refused to give a statement regarding the incident. The cops arrested during the buy-bust have been disarmed and placed under camp restriction in Caloocan Police Station.
