PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Thursday (August 4, 2022)

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that the low-pressure area found east of Visayas will bring rainy weather conditions over some parts of the country.

On Thursday (August 4, 2022), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The LPA and southwest monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA reported that the low-pressure area was last spotted 180 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar. It has a slim chance of developing into a tropical depression but it may strengthen the southwest monsoon.

The enhanced habagat will bring cloudy weather with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Bicol Region and Northern Samar.

“Minomonitor natin ang isang low pressure area sa silangan ng Visayas, particularly Guiuan, Eastern Samar, 180 kilometers away. In the next 24 hours, mababa ang tsansa na ito ay maging isang bagyo,” Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estreja said.

Zamboanga Peninsula, Visayas, Palawan including Kalayaan Islands, and Occidental Mindoro will experience similar weather condition.

Partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms are expected over Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon as well as Metro Manila and the remaining parts of the country.

An active tropical cyclone is being monitored at 665 kilometers west-northwest of Itbay, Batanes. It has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 55 kph.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the rest of Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan will be slight to moderate.

Possible flash floods or landslides are expected due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.
