MAID IN MALACANANG EARNINGS – Director Darryl Yap revealed the 8-digit earnings of his film on its opening day.

On August 3, the controversial film directed and written by controversial director Darryl Yap hit cinemas nationwide and is showing over 200 cinemas across the country.

Yap’s latest film ‘Maid in Malacañang’ raked in Php 21 million in earnings across over 200 cinemas worldwide on its opening day. And on Facebook page Vincentiments, a post read, “AKALA KO BA 31 MILLION ang boto! BAKIT 21 MILLION LANG YAN? bahala na kayo.”

The ticket costs Php 290.00 and this only means that on the first day of the film, 72,400 Filipinos watched it approximately.

Soon, the film will be available across UAE cinemas this coming August 19 and the director along with Sen. Imee Marcos and Cristine Reyes will be in Dubai from August 18-21.

This controversial film centers on the final days of Marcoses in Malacañang and is tackled from their perspective. To recall, they were forced to flee to the United States following the 1986 EDSA People People Revolution.

And in this film, a scene went viral where late former president Corazon Aquino was seen playing mahjong with the nuns. In a previous article, the Sisters of the Carmelites Monastery of Cebu did not like it saying the “attempt to distort history is reprehensible” in the statement they have issued.

Meanwhile, Sen. Imee, amid the issues and allegations of distorting historical facts in the movie, insisted that the story told was based on facts. Accordingly, the movie is not an attempt to revise history and even urged the critics to watch it before denouncing it.
