PAGASA Says Southwest Monsoon and Localized Thunderstorms to Affect PH Weather Condition

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that the southwest monsoon and localized thunderstorms would bring scattered rains over parts of the country.

On Wednesday (August 3, 2022), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The southwest monsoon and localized thunderstorms will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA reported that the southwest monsoon or locally known as Habagat will be affecting the western section of Northern Luzon while the localized thunderstorms will be affecting Mindanao.

The southwest monsoon will bring cloudy weather conditions with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over the provinces of Batanes, Cagayan, Abra, Apayao, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Batanes.

Habagat will bring partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over Bicol Region, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Northern Samar.

The localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather condition over Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, La Union, Pangasinan, Aurora, Mindanao, Metro Manila, and the rest of the country.

The weather agency has warned the public of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the western section of northern Luzon, the rest of Luzon, and the remaining parts of the country will be slight to moderate, according to the weather bureau.
