PAGASA Says Habagat to Bring Rainshowers Over Parts of PH

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that the southwest monsoon would bring rain showers over several parts of the country.

On Monday (August 1, 2022), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) released the latest weather update in the country. The southwest monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA reported that the Southwest Monsoon and localized thunderstorms will be affecting the country.

“Kasalukuyan, malaking bahagi ng Luzon ay nakakaranas ng maulap na kalangitan na may pag-ulan dulot ng habagat o southwest monsoon,” Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said.

The habagat will bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Metro Manila, Western Visayas, Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and Mimaropa.

The provinces of Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Apayao, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Ifugao, Benguet and Aurora will experience similar weather condition.

Partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are expected over the Bicol Region and Northern Samar as well as the rest of the Visayas due to habagat and localized thunderstorms.

The weather agency has also advised the public to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods and landslides in rain-affected areas during moderate to at times heavy rains.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the entire country will be slight to moderate.
