A holdup suspect has passed away after suffering gunshot wounds during a shootout with police officers in Las Piñas City.
A CCTV camera capture the holdup incident in Las Piñas City. Three unidentified suspects apprehended an Indian national and took his valuables from his pockets and motorcycle.
The three holdup suspects immediately run away to escape their crime. However, the victim immediately sought help from the Talon sub-station conducting Oplan Sita, according to Talon sub-station officer-in-charge Police Lieutenant Robert Kodiamat.
“Prior sa incident, ang Talon sub-station ay nagko-conduct ng Oplan Sita. Then biglang may lumapit itong si Indian national … nagkwento na siya’y naholdap. Tinutukan siya ng baril,” Kodiamat said.
The police authorities launched a follow-up operation and spotted the suspect riding a motorcycle at a road intersection. One of the suspects identified as Gian Bautista tried to avoid the cops.
The cops tried to apprehend the culprit but the latter pulled out his gun and tried to shoot the operatives. Unfortunately, he suffered gunshot wounds, which leads to his untimely death.
“Pagliko niyang ganun, nakita niya ‘yung (mga pulis) flinag down namin, pilit siyang umiwas. Pag-iwas niya nasagi niya ‘yung isang rider tapos pagbalik niya bumunot siya ng baril. Pagtutok niya, inunahan na ng tropa namin na nakapwesto doon sa unahan,” Kodiamat.
Bautista has been rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. The suspect has been also involved in various crimes. The authorities recovered a .45 caliber and ammunition from the suspect.
The police force is still searching the Bautista’s colleagues.
