PAGASA Says Tropical Depression Ester to Bring Rains Over Parts of PH

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that Tropical Depression Ester enhances habagat and will bring rains over some parts of the country.

On Saturday (July 30, 2022), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Tropical Depression Ester and enhanced southwest monsoon will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that Ester has been last spotted at 785 km East of Itbayat, Batanes. It has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph.

Tropical Depression Ester/southwest monsoon will bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Palawan including Kalayaan Islands, Occidental Mindoro, Aklan, Antique, and Samar Provinces.

Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Zambales, Bataan, Aklan, Antique, and Samar Provinces will experience the same weather condition.

The Southwest Monsoon / Localized Thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy condition with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over the provinces of Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Aurora, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Apayao, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Ifugao and Benguet.

The rest of Visayas and Mindanao will also experience similar weather condition.

Tropical Storm Songda which is outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility also enhances the southwest monsoon, which will bring light to moderate with at times heavy rains over several provinces in the western sections of southern Luzon including Metro Manila and Visayas.

Ester is expected to leave the country’s vicinity on Saturday afternoon.

“Outside the PAR region, the tropical cyclone is forecast to pass very close or make landfall in the vicinity of the Ryukyu Islands tonight or tomorrow early morning,” PAGASA said.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over northern and eastern seaboards of the country will be moderate to rough, according to the weather bureau.
