The NBI personnel arrested an alleged illegal recruiter in Bacolod City, Negros Occident after victimizing 100 individuals.
Aspiring Overseas Filipino Workers hoping to get good job opportunities in Japan and Australia fell into the scheme of an illegal recruiter in Bacolod City. The suspect asked for a placement fee from the victims.
Two victims narrated that the suspect asked P50, 000 placement fee from them for fast deployment abroad. The recruiter urged the victims to pay the placement fee within three days.
The victim named Francine Pascual sold her buffalo and loaned a certain amount of cash to pay the placement to KAS-A & SMV Management Consultancy Services. Another victim identified as alias ‘Neneng’ spent her savings and pawned some of her possessions.
The poor victims sought help from the National Bureau of Investigation for immediate action. The agency immediately launched an entrapment operation to locate and identify the suspects.
NBI arrests five suspects identified as Sandy Agena, Maricar Bangcale, Richard Hiponia, Teresa Aragon, and Arlene Alonday. The authorities found out that the agency has no permit from the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).
