Toddler Plays Lighter & Accidentally Burns House in San Fernando City, Pampanga
A house in San Fernando City, Pampanga was caught by fire after a two-year-old toddler played a lighter.
Fire is one of the most unexpected incidents that put many lives in danger because it could happen anytime and anywhere without noticeable indications. It could lead to a loss of properties and even lives.
Most fire incidents could start with electrical problems, unplugged appliances, and gadgets but there are tons of factors that can cause fire, which is really hard to prevent. It could leave victims with a little to start with or nothing at all.
A cellphone video shows a thick black smoke coming from a house in Barangay San Jose, San Fernando City, Pampanga. The family failed to save any items from their burning home due to a sudden change of events.
According to the police investigation, a two-year-old kid played a lighter inside their bedroom. The innocent child lit a paper and placed it on their foam, which is made up of highly combustible material.
“May two-year-old silang anak, yung owner ng bahay. Nakahanap ng lighter [yung bata] tapos sinindihan yung papel, inilagay sa kama nila. Dahil highly combustible yung foam at saka yung mga damit na nandoon sa kuwarto, mabilis kumalat yung apoy sa bahay nila,” San Fernando City Fire Mashal Fire Senior Inspector Ryan Pascual said.
The firefighters were able to put out the fire and prevent the spread of flames to other houses. Unfortunately, the house was consumed by fire and the owner failed to save any items.
Luckily, no one got injured due to the incident. The local government unit has already sent financial help to the family. Pascual also advised the public to keep flammable items from the reach of young children.
“Siguro maging maingat na lang tayo sa mga gamit natin lalo na sa mga lighter, posporo. Itabi na lang sa maayos na lugar at hindi naaabot ng mga bata lalo na out of curiosity kasi ‘yung anak natin, kapag lalo mong binabawalan, mas lalo silang nagiging curious,” Pascual added.
