Statement of Pres. Bongbong Marcos on Death of Japanese Former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe

BONGBONG MARCOS – The Philippine President released a statement on the death of Japan’s former Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe.

The sudden death of Japanese former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe shocked people across the globe most especially his countrymen. The former Prime Minister who has served twice as Japan’s highest-ranking official from 2006-2007 and 2012-2020 was shot during a public event.

Abe was reportedly giving a speech in line with the election when the people in the area heard two loud sounds which were followed by the former Prime Minister falling to the ground. He bled and was immediately given a cardiopulmonary arrest response before he was rushed to the hospital.

A few hours after the incident, it was confirmed that the former Prime Minister has died. He was 67 years old at the time of his sudden death. The suspect in the death of the former Prime Minister was captured by the authorities. Countless hearts were left in grief by the sudden death of the former national leader.

Several countries condoled with Japan and the bereaved family of the late former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Philippine President Bongbong Marcos issued a statement expressing sympathy to the former Prime Minister’s family and the entire Japanese nation on behalf of the PH government and the Filipino people.

Marcos Jr. described Abe as a “visionary leader who saw Japan through its most difficult times”. According to him, it was during the former Prime Minister’s term when the ties between PH and Japan truly flourished. He stressed that the visits of the former Prime Minister of Japan to the Philippines will not be forgotten and he prays for strength for the Japanese nation amid the loss.
