The European Union (EU) countries cited the high levels of ethylene oxide, a pesticide, in the products. The Irish government stressed in its statement that the said pesticide “is not authorized for use in foods sold in the E.U.”.

The Irish government further said that continued consumption of ethylene oxide over a long period of time may result in health conditions. Based on the report, Lucky Me was quick to react to the statements issued against their products.

Monde Nissin, the owner of the popular Filipino noodle brand, said that it is not adding ethylene oxide on the food. The company explained that they are only using the pesticide in the treatment of the spices and seeds to control the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms.
