Mexican Mayor Goes Viral Online After Marrying His Alligator Bride & Seals Nuptial w/ Kiss
Oaxaca, Mexico – A Mexican mayor has married his alligator bride and sealed the nuptial ceremony with a kiss.
Mayor Victor Hugo Sosa of San Pedro Huamelula town in Oaxaca, Mexico goes viral on social media and becomes the headlines of several news outlets after marrying his seven-year-old alligator bride.
Sosa married the alligator that wears a white gown and other accessories. The wedding was allegedly part of a ritual asking for blessings and abundance from Mother Nature. The ritual reportedly represents the holiness of the marriage of the two.
The seven-year-old reptile was hailed as Little Princess and believed to be a deity representing Mother Earth. Her marriage to the local town mayor symbolizes the joining of humans with the divine.
The locals play traditional music while revelers danced as the indigenous leader kissed his alligator bride. The mayor carried his new bride as the drum beats and trumpets blared during the event.
However, the reptile’s snout has been tied shut presumably to avoid unwanted biting during the ceremony.
“We ask nature for enough rain, for enough food, that we have fish in the river,” Sosa said.
One of the wedding sponsors named Elia Edith Aguilar said that the event gives her happiness and make her proud. “It gives me so much happiness and makes me proud of my roots. It’s a very beautiful tradition,” Aguilar said.
