Cainta LGU Provides Cart, Bottled Waters & Cash Assistance to Viral Elderly Vendor
The viral elderly vendor received a cart, bottled water, and cash assistance amid the controversy she is facing.
The lady street vendor identified as Bebita Manigos of Cainta, Rizal goes viral and elicited various reactions online after she was caught transferring cold water into plastic bottles in an unhygienic way.
The vendor scoops water from a styro box using her bare hands and transfers it into plastic bottles. She was performing her activity beside her bottled water products displayed in her stall.
However, the 74-year-old woman explained that she was not selling it and used it as ‘bath water’ due to the hot and humid weather conditions during that day. The video uploaded named Virmil Talattad has also apologized to the vendor for posting the video but explained he just want to raise public awareness.
Cainta Mayor Johnielle Keith Nieto also plans to file a cyber libel against the video uploader and promised to provide assistance for Manigos.
Recently, Nieto provides a cart, bottled water, and cash assistance worth P5, 000 for the vendor. He placed Manigos in the biggest trike terminal in Cainta. He also revealed that the video negatively affects the vendor’s business.

“Siya yung matandang nag viral dahil sa na upload na video na nagsalin siya ng tubig sa isang pet bottle. Daming tumuligsa. Pinanood ko ang video. At pinakinggan ko paliwanag ni nanay.. ginagamit niya yun para ilagay sa batok niya dahil mainit ang araw..
Pero dahil sa video, biglang nagbago ang buhay niya… kung nakakabenta siya dati ng 10 kahon ng SEALED bottled water sa loob ng isang araw, ngayon, 3 kahon na lang sa loob ng 3 araw.. iniwasan siya ng mga suki niya…
Pinatawag ko siya ngayon.. binigyan ko ng sariling cart at bottled water na binili ko sa Puregold para magsimula siya uli. Nilagay ko siya sa pinakamalaking trike terminal ng cainta. At Pinabigyan ko din ng 5,000 piso panimula.
Pero ang mas mahalaga dun, kakasuhan ko ang nag upload ng video ng cyber libel. Tingnan natin ano ang ending nito.. sampolan ko lang…”
