Habal-Habal Rider Dies After Shot by Heartless Passenger Who Stole His Motorcycle

A heartless passenger shoots a poor habal-habal rider and steals his motorcycle in Tanyag Street, Barangay South Signal, Taguig City.

A 30-year-old habal-habal rider identified as Jayson Galcit passed away after suffering multiple gunshots. The passenger shot the poor rider and stole his motorcycle. The suspect immediately leaves after the incident.

In the CCTV footage, it can be seen that Galcit stopped at Tanyag Street in Taguig City. The passenger get off the motorcycle and talked to the rider. After a few moments, the suspect pulled a gun and shot the victim a couple of times.

Heartless Passenger

Chief Investigation Division Taguig City Police Plt. Wilfredo Tanquerido Jr. believes that the rider was a victim of the “Agaw Motor” modus. Some witnesses in the area heard the gunshots and found the victim’s lifeless body lying on the ground.

“Maari po itong kanyang pasahero ay nagpahatid po sa kanya sa Taguig maari pong malayo ang pinanggalingan niya dahil inalok niya pa nga ito, maaring pagbaba niya siningil siya then binaril siya,” Tanquerido said.

According to Edelyn Lapitan, Galcit’s live-in partner, Jayson has decided to pick up passengers during that night to earn money for the milk of their youngest child. The funeral also charged the victim’s family with P67, 000.

Taguig Police has a person of interest in drug-related cases in the city. The person of interest is also involved in carnapping incidents. Lapitan is also seeking justice for her partner.
