Why Heart Evangelista use this name as her stage name?
Multi-hyphenate Heart Evangelista shared the story behind her stage name and who decided that she should use this.
Heart’s real name is Love Marie Payawal Ongpauco and her last name officially became Escudero when she married Senator-elect Chiz Escudero. In her recent vlog, the Kapuso star answered several questions from her fans.
One of the questions was about her stage name. Heart revealed that she almost didn’t get launched because her dad Reynaldo Ongpauco did not want her to use “Evangelista” which is the maiden name of her grandmother, Chit Evangelista.
The actress said that they wanted to use the name of her grandmother because they believe that she has “Midas Touch.” It is because it was Heart’s grandmother who started their family business Barrio Fiesta.
Heart Evangelista said that her father wanted her to use “Ongpauco” but then-Star Magic head Johnny “Mr. M” Manahan said that their last name was hard to pronounce.
The actress remembered that she got angry at her dad for “hindering” the launch even after all the training that she did. She recalled writing in her diary that her life would be over and that she will never become an actress because of the said last name issue.
Heart Evangelista also shared that before the auditions and training, she already went through a lot because she was not even allowed to go out with her friends. “We had security that had a logbook and for me to join showbiz, it was like a no, never, never, never,” the Kapuso star shared.
Heart also answered questions about her interests, and her mental and physical health, including her “guilty pleasure.”
