Hidilyn Diaz Shares Journey Leading to 2022 Southeast Asian Games
HIDILYN DIAZ- Tokyo 2020 gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz opened up about her journey leading to the 2022 Southeast Asian Games gold win.
Back in July 2021, Hidilyn Diaz made history as the first Pinoy to bag a gold medal in the Olympics after she successfully lifted 127 kg in the clean and jerk event. She bested 8 other athletes including world record-holder Liao Qiuyun of China.
The 31-year-old champ received a two-story house in Tagaytay, 50 million pesos, and other items. In a previous article, Hidilyn gave a glimpse into the interior of her brand-new house.
Hidilyn Diaz shared in her previous Instagram post that she will compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics. She said will also compete in the 31st South East Asian Games in May and the nineteenth Asian Games in September.
On Friday, May 20, the Pinay Olympian went back-to-back in the women’s 55kg weightlifting competition at the 2022 SEA Games in Vietnam. She defeated Sanikun Tanasan of Thailand, an Olympic gold medalist from Rio 2016.

Recently, Hidilyn Diaz took to social media to open up about her journey leading to the 2022 SEA Games. In an IG post, she opened up about her struggles with anxiety at the start of the year due to her weight gain.
Hidilyn Diaz also revealed the reason why she continues to compete despite many telling her that she doesn’t have to compete anymore since she already won gold at the Olympics. She said that her win at the 2022 SEA Games is proof that she can still compete as a weightlifter. She also thanked her team headed by her husband-to-be Julius Naranjo.
