Karen Davila shared a piece of her mind about winning senators from showbiz
Seasoned broadcaster Karen Davila reacted to the decision of winning senator Robin Padilla to leave showbiz to focus on his duties in the government.
Robin surprised many Filipinos, especially his critics when he became the number one senator in the 2022 elections. On May 18, the Commission on Election proclaimed the winning senators and on that day, the action star said that he will just finish his last project and after this, he will prioritize his job as a lawmaker.
“Mahalaga sa akin na magtrabaho na ako para pagtuunan ang mga reporma sa batas. Last movie ko na ‘yon. Mananatili na lang ‘yung show ko sa TV. Pero sa showbiz last ko na ‘yon,” Robin Padilla said referring to his movie about Marawi.
This statement of the actor-turned-politician received a comment from Karen Davila. The seasoned broadcaster retweeted the post of ABS-CBN News about this statement of the Senator-elect with her caption praising Robin for his decision.
“GOOD MOVE Sen Robin Padilla (thumbs up emoji),” Karen said. She also said that those winning candidates who are from the entertainment industry should stop treating the Senate as if it is just a bonus because they are still spending much of their time doing their showbiz engagements.
“Let us demand they do the work, show up and be active. The Filipino people deserve no less (Philippine flag emoji),” Karen Davila pointed out.
Meanwhile, in a previous post, Robin Padilla shared photos with senatorial candidate Salvador Panelo. The winning senator said that he will hire the lawyer, who is a known ally of President Rodrigo Duterte, to be his legislative consultant, adviser, and mentor.
