According to the local Comelec officials in Cotabato, it is required to tear and destroy the unused ballots after the elections. However, re-electionist Mayor Frances Cynthia Guiani claimed that the ballots were pre-shaded.

Guiani said that the shaded ballots were part of his rival Bruce Matabalao’s propaganda to alter the election results. Guinani’s camp is planning to file charges against Matabalao over the alleged cheating incident.

Meanwhile, Matabalo’s supporters held a motorcade event to proclaim his victory. Comelec said that the three remaining SD cards containing votes could not help Guiani to win. The city also suffered from a power interruption before the proclamation.

The uploading of data on election results and remaining SD cards is still ongoing due to technical glitches. Leading political candidates are already waiting at the Cotabato City Hall while their supporters are still waiting for the proclamation of the winners.
