Vice Ganda Slams Claims over Actors, Actresses Endorsing Political Candidates
VICE GANDA – The Unkabogable Star reacted to the claim that they are endorsing candidates in the hope of franchise renewal.
The May 2022 Elections are set to take place in less than two (2) weeks and more and more celebrities in different fields are endorsing the candidates that they are supporting in the upcoming poll. One of those who recently came out to announce his bet is Kapamilya star Vice Ganda.
During the Leni-Kiko grand campaign rally held in Pasay City which was in time for the celebration of the 57th birthday of Vice President Leni Robredo, Vice endorsed Robredo. Several other celebrities in the showbiz industry joined the campaign rally to endorse the Vice President.
However, amid the actors and actresses showing their support to the candidates, there are claims that Kapamilya stars are only after a franchise. To this, Vice Ganda reacted and clarified the claims.
During a segment of the Kapamilya noontime variety show It’s Showtime, Vice Ganda clarified that they are no longer expecting a franchise. He stressed that their previous franchise is now owned by another entity. The broadcast frequency previously held by ABS-CBN was taken over by a company owned by business tycoon Manny Villar.
“Wala na po kaming hinahabol na dating prangkisa dahil ang prangkisa namin ay may nagmamay-ari na at pagmamay-arian nila iyan ng ilang dekada,” the Unkabogable Star said.
Furthermore, during the said It’s Showtime segment, Vice Ganda clarified that ABS-CBN did not apply for another franchise. He stressed that it is clear that the network is no longer after any franchise. The comedian encourages the “trolls” to move on as the said chapter is already done. Meanwhile, according to him, a lot of people working for the network may be returning to work as they are working on a lot of projects that can be aired in several different platforms.
