Former Sen. Jinggoy Estrada’s Platforms If He Wins Senator & Accomplishments

JINGGOY ESTRADA’S PLATFORMS – Here are the accomplishments of former senator Jinggoy Estrada and his plans if he wins the May 2022 Senatorial Election.

Some of the candidates in the upcoming May 2022 Election are coming from political clans and have already held positions in the government before. One of them is former Senator Jinggoy Estrada.

Personal Background:

Jose “Jinggoy” Pimentel Ejercito Jr. was born on February 17, 1963 in Manila. He is the son of former President Joseph “Erap” Estrada and former Senator Luisa “Loi” Pimentel Ejercito. He is a graduate of the University of the Philippines Manila with a degree in A.B. Economics and Laguna State Polytechnic University where he got his doctorate degree in Humanities.

Jinggoy is married to Ma. Presentacion Vitug-Ejercito with whom he has four (4) children – Julian Estrada, Joseph Luis Manueal Estrada, Janella Marie Estrada, and Julienne Estrada. He was arrested and detained in Camp Crame in 2014 due to pork-barrel issues. He posted bail in September 2017 and his plunder cases are still pending.

Accomplishments:

Jinggoy Estrada has served as vice mayor and mayor of San Juan from 1988 to 2001. As mayor, he lead the infrastructure projects in San Juan. He also served as a lawmaker in the Senate for 12 years and was elected twice as Senate president pro tempore. He principally authored 20 laws including the Republic Act No. 3092 or the Philippine Green Jobs Act of 2016, the R.A. 10361 or the Domestic Workers Act or Batas Kasambahay, and the R.A. No. 10396 or an Act Strengthening Conciliation-Mediation as a Voluntary Mode of Dispute Settlement for All Labor Cases.

Former Sen. Jinggoy Estrada’s Platforms:

  • push for the creation of the National Employment Assistance Center and the National Manpower Data and Placement Center to match labor opportunities with the skills of Filipinos who lost their jobs amid the COVID-19 pandemic
  • ensure the receipt of appropriate benefits and allowances by workers who choose to work under a hybrid work model
  • push for laws for the support of the industries that the COVID-19 pandemic has greatly hit
  • boost the agricultural sector
