Vilma Santos On Why She Quit Politics After 24 Years Of Service

Star For All Seasons Vilma Santos is resting in politics for now and this is the reason why.

VILMA SANTOS – Veteran actress Vilma Santos is not running for any public post in the upcoming elections and this is the reason.

For 24 years, Star For All Seasons Vilma Santos has been serving the people of Batangas. Her political records showed that she was Lipa City’s Mayor for nine years or equivalent to three terms from June 30, 1998, until June 30, 2007. Currently, she is the House Representative of the 6th District of Batangas and her term will end on June 30, 2022.

Many have encouraged her to run for senator after that but she did not file her certificate of candidacy for any position. She decided not for health and safety reasons. Despite having a good track record as a public servant, she chose to rest from public service for now.

In a conversation with Willie Revillame, she said based on a report from PEP, “I took a backseat. Hindi ko kinaya yung pressure ng COVID-19 before. At saka hindi ako in-allow ng doktor ko kasi sa edad ko rin. Hindi pupuwede if I will go around the Philippines.”

She believes that it will also be unfair to the people who believe and will vote for her if she’ll run without doing any physical contact with them. With her age, her doctor advised her to do limited movements.

Meanwhile, the multi-awarded veteran actress also expressed that even without the position, she will still continue doing what she does as a public servant – helping the people who are in need.
