BSP has watched the video and expressed its disappointment regarding the incident. The agency considered the TikToker’s act as a violation of Presidential Decree No. 247 which prohibits the defacing, mutilating, tearing, or partially burning or destroying of Philippine currency.

BSP Senior Investigation Officer Atty. Mark Fajardo said violators will face corresponding sanctions and penalties such as paying a fine of not more than P20, 000 or imprisonment of not more than five years.

“’Yung corresponding bank note at ‘yung coin ay pagmamay-ari ng Republika ng Pilipinas. Naka-receive siya ng maraming backlash from the public (kaya) pi-null-out niya agad,” Fajardo said.

The agency and the Philippine National Police (PNP) have already identified the video uploader after the barangay cooperated with them.

“Napag-tagni-tagni po in terms of the location, the whereabouts, kung saan siya nakatira at ‘yung identity ng tao. And may mga validations po na ginagawa,” BSP-Quezon City Dickenson Gamalo said.

The video creator will also face charges for violations of Article 154 of the Revised Penal Code against unlawful utterances and the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2022.
