Rico Yan pro-Marcos claim of Claudine Barretto, Pro-Leni writer reacts

Writer slammed Claudine Barretto’s post about Rico Yan

Actress Claudine Barretto claimed that her ex-boyfriend, the late Rico Yan, was a pro-Marcos and this was debunked by pro-Leni writer Noel Ferrer.

Claudine replied to a netizen’s comment on her post showing her support for the UniTeam’s presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos. The netizen said that this would sadden Rico.

Then, the actress stated that her former boyfriend was a supporter of the Marcoses. However, this did not sit well with fans of the late actor, even those who are fans of the love team of Claudine and Rico.

In one of the recent Instagram post of Noel Ferrer, a known supporter of Vice President Leni Robredo, he debunked the claim of the Optimum Star. He said that he and Rico Yan were together during the celebration of the overthrowing of a dictator years ago.

FACT CHECK. I was with Rico Yan at the EDSA People Power Anniversary that celebrated the overthrowing of a dictator plus his family and cronies. Let us not use his memory in vain or for personal gains. Rico – and his family for that matter, deserve better,” the writer who is also a talent manager said in the caption of his post showcasing a throwback photo with the late actor.

Netizens who commented on this post of Ferrer said that indeed Claudine is just using Rico for her political agenda. There were also who expressed hate against what the actress did.

A netizen on Twitter shared a thread showing a The Correspondents documentary hosted by Rico that talked about Martial Law.

There is no way Rico Yan would support the son of a dictator. Please take time and watch his documentation. Plus, his grandfather General Yan resigned his post in 1972 because he did not want to be involved with the implementation of martial law,” the netizen wrote.
