5-Year-Old Boy Dies After Covered w/ Rubbles as Wall of Nearby House Collapsed
A five-year-old boy in Passi, Iloilo has passed away after he was covered with rubbles as the wall of nearby house collapsed.
On Thursday afternoon (April 7, 2022), the province of Iloilo experienced an inclement weather condition with heavy rains and strong winds due to several weather systems in the country. The inclement weather causes damage in several houses in the province.
A young boy named Christian Aguilar Sorongon has died after the wall of a nearby house suddenly collapsed and hit him. The soil probably becomes soft and corroded due to heavy rains resulting for the wall to collapse.
The victim’s home is located at a low-lying area while the wall is placed in an area, which is quite a little bit higher. The victim’s house in Barangay Poblacion Ilaya is allegedly made up of light materials.
Aside from Sorongon, residents named 23-year-old Joland Sampiano and 19-year-old Shaina Mae Panil suffered wounds and injuries due to the incident.
The rescuers also struggled to rescue and recover Sorongon’s body from the rubbles. The authorities immediately brought the kid to the hospital but the health personnel declared him as dead-on-arrival.
Christian suffered a serious injury on his head, which leads to his untimely death. The local government unit also advised the Filipinos residing in flood-prone at landslide-prone areas to take precautionary measures.
The heavy and incessant rains at the town were caused by the low-pressure area.
