Davao City Vice Mayor Baste Duterte Hopes the President will Endorse Former Sen. Bongbong Marcos
The upcoming Election 2022 is set to take place in less than two (2) months but Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte stays mum on the candidate that he supports for the upcoming poll. The Chief Executive who turned 77 today assured the Filipinos that the upcoming poll will be fair and honest.
Malacañang revealed that Pres. Duterte’s birthday wish is really for the election to be fair and honest as he considers a smooth transition of power as part of his legacy. There are 10 candidates vying for the presidency in the upcoming poll.
Former Sen. Bongbong Marcos is leading the presidential race. He is the standard-bearer of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas and is the running-mate of presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, She is running under Lakas-CMD.
Despite being the running-mate of his daughter in the upcoming Election 2022, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte has not announced an endorsement of former Sen. Bongbong Marcos for president. He previously threw tirades against the former Senator calling him a “very weak leader’.
Mayor Inday Sara is hoping that Pres. Duterte will endorse former Sen. Bongbong Marcos. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, presidential son and Davao City Vice Mayor Baste Duterte is also hoping that his father will endorse Marcos Jr.
Vice Mayor Baste is running for the mayoralty position in Davao City. Initially, Mayor Inday Sara filed for re-election in Davao City but she withdrew it amid calls from her supporters to take a national race and run for vice president.
Based on the report, Davao City Vice Mayor Baste Duterte said that it is still unknown whether or not Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is endorsing former Sen. Bongbong Marcos but he sees “signs”. The presidential son cited the support of PDP-Laban Cusi wing to Marcos Jr. The Chief Executive is a member of the said party.
The move of PDP-Laban Cusi wing was slammed by the family members of the late former Sen. Aquilino “Nene” Pimentel Jr., one of the founders of the political party. Sen. Koko Pimentel stressed that the party was formed to fight Marcos Martial rule.
