Kiko Pangilinan asserted the importance of debates
Senator Kiko Pangilinan likened debates as a form of “panliligaw” to voters as he asserted that it is important that candidates should attend this kind of political event.
Presidential and vice-presidential candidates in the 2022 elections are set to face each other in debates organized by the Commission on Elections (Comelec). However, based on previous reports, the tandem of former Senator Bongbog Marcos and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte of the UniTeam said that they might not attend.
In a recent interview, Mayor Sara said that she will continue doing her campaign without attending debates while BBM’s camp still has no confirmed answer yet, as of this writing.
For Sen. Kiko Sotto, debates are vital. Based on the report from News5, the vice-presidential aspirant has already signed his commitment form for the series of Comelec debates.
He said that debates are like “paniligaw.” “Noong nililigawan ko si Sharon (Cuneta), kinailangan kong magpakita kina Mayor Ambo at Mommy Elaine upang ipaliwanag ang aking intensuon sa kanilang anak,” the lawmaker said.
Pangilinan stressed that this should be the attitude of candidates in showing their intentions to the voters, the ones they are pursuing. He also said that should be able to explain why he or she deserves the votes of the Filipinos.
Meanwhile, in a previous campaign event, Megastar Sharon Cuneta, the wife of Sen. Kiko Pangilinan said that voters should choose her husband and Vice President Leni Robredo for the future of the country.
Sharon also said that only the tandem of the Vice President and her husband is proven to have a clean record when it comes to public service.
