DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte said that he will take charge of cases that may be filed against him due to the drug war.

When he was running for the presidency in 2016, two (2) of the campaign promises of Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is the fight against corruption and drugs in the Philippines. He even promised the public that he will clean the country from illegal drugs within six (6) months since he will assume the highest position in the government.

However, six (6) months have passed and PH is not yet free from illegal drugs. The President admitted that he might have miscalculated the extent of the illegal substance in the country. His campaign continued.

Many believe that the moves of Pres. Duterte are successful and they have greatly helped the country most especially in terms of safety and preserving the people for good things. However, the said anti-drug war also elicited criticisms amid it being linked to deaths.

The allegations surrounding the said campaign of the current administration reached the International Criminal Court (ICC) and it wants to launch an investigation in the Philippines. Some presidential candidates expressed openness to the ICC probe in case they would win the upcoming election.

Recently, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte spoke regarding the drug war in the Philippines under his administration. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the 76-year-old Chief Executive stressed that he fulfilled his promise to the Filipino people.

According to Pres. Duterte, he is now facing a criminal charge in ICC but he does not care about what might happen to him. He stressed that he promised the Filipinos “law and order”. He wants the next president to continue the war against drugs even under a different extent or strategy.

“I’ll be happy to transfer the power to whoever would elect as president. Iyon lang naman ang akin. Ako na ang bahala sa kaso ko. I did it for my country,” he said.
