Here’s Kesz Valdez Biography, a young Filipino humanitarian.

KESZ VALDEZ BIOGRAPHY – This is the life story of Kesz Valdez, the first Asian to be awarded of International Children’s Peace Prize.

The International Children’s Peace Prize is an award-giving body that recognizes the hard work and effort of a child who makes significant contributions when it comes to advocating the rights of children. These children include orphans, child laborers, and those who have HIV/AIDS. This was first launched in November 2005 during the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates held in Rome.

And in 2012, the first Asian and the first Filipino has been awarded. The 2012 International Children’s Peace Prize in The Hague, Netherlands awarded Kesz Valdez. He was just 13 years old at that time and the youngest among the nominees. He was born on December 26, 1998, in a poor family. He has 8 siblings and because of poverty, he was forced to do things at a very young age.

At the age of 2, he was forced to do labor such as “pamamasura” or picking garbage in a dumpsite. He was beaten and neglected by his parents. They attempted to sell him but it didn’t happen. As a child, he has experienced so much like begging, scavenging, and eating garbage for food. The money he earned was just used by his father for his vices.

For over a year, he was homeless. But fate led him to an outreach group called Club 8586. This is where he met and got mentored by Harnin Manalaysay. When he first met him, he was just four years old.

And together, they founded Championing Community Children, known as C3, a group that has already helped many children across the Philippines. They provide children with “Gifts of Hope” in the form of footwear, toys, and school supplies.

They also educate street children to learn proper hygiene, health, and rights. And when he was awarded International Children’s Peace Prize by Desmond Tutu, the money along with it is something he used for various humanitarian projects.
